So I've recently done two portraits, and as I have an apparent lack of posts I plan on putting them up. But when, oh when? When I scan em in I'll plaster them up. Till then, this post will fill space to show that I at least still exist.

Monstrous Candy!

So here are some logo and character designs for my [fake] candy company. Originally I was gong to name is "Monster Candy" and create a bag with slash marks in it until I went to my local convenience store and remembered, "oh no! There's already a 'Monster' brand that also utilizes claw marks". So it was back to the drawing board, and I decided to go with "Monstrous" and to draw the characters. It was a lot of fun drawing monsters, I might try my hand at a few more.

Oh poor, poor little Veronnica. So here is the cover for my Veronnica comic. Yes, I finally colored it. This is more of a test, as the final cover will actually be silk screened. Hopefully this will occur in the very near future.

Work Avoidance

So I'm participating in some heavy duty work avoidance right now. I've started doing portraits of my friends and classmates. I've been drawing about one a day and I'm just starting to ink them. So the plan is to post the sketches and then the inks when they're done. Maybe I'll even color this little guys if I'm really up to it. So here's the first-it's a sketch of Cherise, a friend of mine from the illustration department at SVA. I'm also putting in the start of the inks, not such a great scan but it'll do for now.

Can you believe I'm finally putting up a post?! I know, it's wild. Anyway, I found this self portrait a la David B. that I did in Jessica Abel's class. I love this little guy so here it is...enjoy! Oh and the color is a new addition, of course.

Word Chain

So this one pager was created as the result of a word chain. I started with the word "love" and changed one letter each time until I got to the word "hate."I think the order was love, live, hive, have, hate. So each word become a panel, and each panel is a little beehive hair clip because I thought it would be so adorable. Plus the word "hive" suggested it.

The Curse of the Mummy

Here's another comic I did for Matt Madden's class. This ones a four pager, it needs some re-working on the first page but for the most part it's done. As for the rules on this one it was based on a poetic form-a pantoum. So a pantoum is about four stanzas long, the 2nd and 4th line of each stanza becomes the 1st and 3rd line of the second stanza. Also, the 1st and 3rd line of the first stanza become the last two lines of the very last stanza. I adapted this to the comics form by making a stanza equal to a page, and a line became a tier. So four stanzas became four pages, and four lines per stanza became 4 tiers a page. I added another twist to it by putting the panels of the repeating tiers in reverse order.

Anxiety

So here is a comic I did in Matt Madden's "Obstacles" class. This was done pre-election, when I was still feeling pretty nervous about what the outcome would be. This comic had to follow a few rules. Every panel had to feature a symptom of anxiety, as well as offer a solution that was both cheeky and a possible way to deal with that specific aspect of anxiety.
